H3PO4 is an inorganic compound acid derived from the mineral phosphorus. It is a crystalline solid, but in its less concentrated form it is a colorless syrupy liquid. it is used to acidify foods and beverages, and serves as a starting point to produce many phosphate derivatives. Food grade H3PO4  is a clear, colorless liquid that has a sour taste and a strong odor. It is a weak acid with a pH of around 2.5, which means it is less acidic than vinegar. It is soluble in water and ethanol, but not in oils.
