polyethylene (PE) is a thermoplastic resin produced by polymerization of ethylene.

Polyethylene can be divided into high density polyethylene, low density polyethylene and linear low density polyethylene according to the polymerization method, molecular weight and chain structure.

Application

Polyethylene can be divided into high density polyethylene (HDPE), low density polyethylene (LDPE) and linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) according to different polymerization methods, molecular weight and chain structure.

LDPE

Properties: tasteless, odorless, non-toxic, dull surface, milky waxy particles, density of about 0.920 g/cm3, melting point 130ºC ~ 145ºC. Insoluble in water, slightly soluble in hydrocarbons, etc. Resistant to most acid and base erosion, water absorption is small, can still maintain softness at low temperature, high electrical insulation.
Production process: There are mainly two kinds of high-pressure tube method and kettle method. In order to reduce the reaction temperature and pressure, the tube process generally adopts low temperature and high activity primer to initiate polymerization system, with high purity ethylene as the main raw material, and other density adjustment agents, using high activity initiator at about 200ºC ~ 330ºC, 150 ~ 300MPa conditions for polymerization. The molten polymer that causes polymerization in the reactor must be cooled and separated by high pressure, medium pressure and low pressure. The high-pressure circulating gas is cooled and separated and then sent to the ultra-high pressure (300 MPa) compressor inlet. The medium pressure circulating gas is cooled and separated and then sent to the high-pressure (30 MPa) compressor inlet. The low-pressure circulation gas is cooled, separated and sent to the low pressure (0.5MPa) compressor for recycling, while the molten polyethylene is sent to the pelletizer after high pressure and low pressure separation for water granulation. When pelleting, the enterprise can add appropriate additives according to different application fields, and the particles are packaged.
Application: injection molding, extrusion, blow molding and other processing methods can be used. Mainly used as agricultural film, industrial packaging film, medicine and food packaging film, mechanical parts, daily necessities, building materials, wire, cable insulation, coating and synthetic paper.

LLDPE

Properties: Because the molecular structure of LLDPE and LDPE is significantly different, the performance is also different. Compared with LDPE, LLDPE has excellent resistance to environmental stress cracking and electrical insulation, higher heat resistance, impact resistance and puncture resistance. Production process: LLDPE resin is mainly produced by full density polyethylene plant, the representative production process is Innovene process and UCC Unipol process.
Uses: Through injection molding, extrusion, blow molding and other molding methods, the production of film, daily necessities, pipes, wires and cables.

HDPE

Properties: natural, cylindrical or oblate particles, particles clean, particle size in any direction should be 2 mm ~ 5 mm, no mechanical impurities, thermoplastic. Powder material is white powder, qualified products are allowed to have a slight yellow. Insoluble in general solvents at room temperature, but in aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons and halogenated hydrocarbons can be swollen when in contact for a long time, and slightly soluble in and acetic acid when above 70ºC. Heating in the air and oxidation under the influence of sunlight. Resistant to most acid and base erosion. Low water absorption, can still maintain softness at low temperature, high electrical insulation.
Production process: using gas phase method and slurry method two kinds of production process.
Uses: Using injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, roll molding and other molding methods, the production of film products, daily necessities and industrial hollow containers of various sizes, pipes, rolling tape and ligature tape for packaging, rope, fishing net and braiding fiber, wire and cable.
